Our NJD LaTeX template has been created to help you write manuscripts in LaTeX for journals published by Wiley and formatted in New Journal Design (NJD), which is Wiley’s standard article layout. This spreadsheet of journals provides you with the list of journals formatted in NJD and their reference/bibliography style, font and column number which are options within this template for you to select when writing your manuscript. These options in the template help the manuscript simulate approximately how they could appear in the journal's final typeset article. If the journal to which you would like to submit your manuscript is not using NJD, please check with the Editorial Office of that journal if they have their own journal-specific template. It is possible to use this NJD LaTeX template for journals not using NJD even though the manuscript might not simulate completely that journal’s typesetting specifications. Please review the detailed author guidelines within the WileyNJDv5_template.zip package for information about using its options which you can use to write your manuscript. The .zip file also contains the class, style and font files. Please be aware that manuscript files will be converted by our typesetters into each journal's final typesetting specifications for publication, regardless of the reference, font and column number format selected in the manuscript. This template helps you to use standard LaTeX coding for optimal conversion into typesetting specifications by our typesetters. By following the instructions in this template, you can prepare the manuscript files so that they can be processed more quickly after acceptance for final publication. Where journals offer Free Format submission (allowing submission of your manuscript and references in the style or format of your choice) it is suggested that you still use this LaTeX template. Its standard LaTeX coding could streamline accepted articles’ conversion process and improve speed to publication. Please avoid using custom fonts, customized layouts, complex constructions and macros, because their use in a manuscript could cause difficulties during conversion into final journal specifications.
Please provide your article’s references in bibtex format, if possible, because this will help during the conversion process of accepted manuscripts into typeset specifications if references need to be reformatted to a specific journal’s reference style. Embedded references in the TeX file will require the typesetter to do a manual process to reformat them into the journal’s required style if the references are provided in a different style. Please check that you have supplied the following files for typesetting post-acceptance: (i) PDF created from the finalized source manuscript files compiled without any errors. (ii) The LaTeX source code files (text, figure captions, and tables, preferably in a single file), BibTeX format files (if used), and any associated packages/files along with all other files needed for compiling without any errors. This is particularly important if you have used any LaTeX style or class files, bibliography files (.bib, .bbl, .bst) or packages apart from those used in the NJD LaTeX template class file. (iii) Electronic graphics files for the figures/illustrations in Encapsulated PostScript (EPS), PDF or TIFF format. Authors are requested not to create figures using LaTeX codes.
For best results, first make sure you have at least MiKTeX 2.9 (21.2) or TeXLive 2021 installed on your computer or use the latest version of your LaTeX editor.
If you are writing for a specific journal, please also check that journal's Author Guidelines on Wiley Online Library for any other journal-level formatting guidelines and instructions. Many journals at Wiley accept LaTeX files at submission, while others will require you to upload a PDF at submission and supply the native LaTeX files at a later date. Therefore, please check the individual journal Author Guidelines for details.
