When expressing personal views on a social media site that lists your affiliation with UW Medicine, such as LinkedIn, TikTok, Facebook, X (formerly called Twitter) and Instagram, you must clearly indicate that these opinions are your own and not representative of UW Medicine. Do this by adding a disclaimer to your posts: These opinions are my own and do not represent the positions of UW Medicine. Additionally, please familiarize yourself with and adhere to UW Medicine’s Social Media Compliance Policy & Guidance.

UW Medicine resources, including email and UW Medicine social media platforms, should only be used for work-related purposes. Additionally, employees may not use UW Medicine resources including computers, internet access and emails for lobbying. Please familiarize yourself with and adhere to UW Administrative Policy Statement 47.2 (Personal Use of UW Facilities, Computers, and Equipment by UW Employees) and Federal Lobbying Disclosure – Federal Relations (washington.edu).

Likewise, opinion editorials that include an individual’s UW Medicine affiliation should include the following disclaimer: Views represented here are the author’s own and not necessarily those of UW Medicine.
